WHAT WE’RE GOOD AT

Our Story

Little Fins Swim School was founded by Ms Lynn Adele Chng in 2012. Coach Lynn has been swimming since she was at a young age of 9 years old. When she hit 13 years old she decided to join swimming competitively and represented her Secondary school (CHIJ SJC) through out her time of study. She not only managed to prefect her skill with guidance of her Coach, she was nominated to be SJC Swim Team’s Captain nearing to her graduating year. Ever since her retirement as an athlete & completing her studies in Temasek Polytechnic (Diploma of Hospitality & Tourism Management), she tried to pursue her career in the area of her studies but did not work out.

Coach Lynn started teaching shortly after & in a short span of 2 – 3 years she worked hard to be a certified coach internationally (STA) and locally (NROC) by working part time to get the money while completing her various courses which demanded a lot of her time and attention.

Today, Little Fins Swim School has build a strong reputation of producing quality students. Helped many kids to overcome their fear of water & develop a life skill. (Click to read testimonies) Coach Lynn also specializes in teaching adults. With all the support & love from her students & mentors all these years, Little Fins Swim School is now expanding and recruiting quality coaches under her care. Rest assured that you & your kids are in good hands!

HOW WE DO WHAT WE DO

4 step Learning Progress

STEP 1
Water Safety & Water Confidence

Instilling fun and building the basic foundation of water safety. Followed by awareness of surrounding and confidence building in each student. Every child or adult swimmer progress at different pace according to their level of motivation to learn, past experiences and physical development.

STEP 2
Learning the Strokes

Swimming is not just learning the movement of the stroke. It is a  lot to do with feeling of water and balancing one’s body. First learning the movement of the legs (kicks), the arms, the breathing and then putting it all together – this is where the coordination and timing comes in. Swimming does not happen overnight, much practice and repetition is needed, so get down to the pool and start moving!

STEP 3
Survival

After reaching a certain level of confidence and mastering some important skill set in swim strokes, it will be time to combine it together to test for survival in real life situations. Eg, What should you do if you are too tired but there’s no wall near you? if someone bump into you while swimming in deep water, are you able to stop in the middle without help? These are extremely real situations in all areas around pool or even at the beach.

STEP 4
Stroke Correction & Swimming Effectively

Knowing how to swim is good, but learning how to swim effectively by maximising every stroke to minimise energy wastage is a bonus! Have you ever wonder how many strokes get you through a single lap of 50m? The lesser the strokes needed per length, the more efficient your swim will be. Consult your coaches on your swim strokes and correct your little bad habits here and there which might have been causing you to swim less effectively.
